Industry Incentive Grant Description

Purpose: To encourage and assist individuals/companies pursuing a new or updated facility for secondary wood or lumber processing. With the abundance of low grade logs in the region, developing a viable industry to utilize this material is included in the secondary processing development. Providing a market for low-grade material will also enhance forest management of woodlands in the area by providing a market for material removed in thinnings or timber stand improvement operations. The NTHA Incentive Grant is designed to assist companies or individuals who are taking this goal beyond the “idea stage” to the actual establishment of such facilities in the Northern Tier region. To receive a grant the applicant must meet the basic eligibility guidelines. The grant assists the actual construction, surveying, or environmental engineering of the proposed facility or the purchase of equipment upgrades aimed at improving efficiency or expanding capacity.
