Northern Tier Hardwood Association will be hosting Sustainable Timber Harvesting again this year- 2026!
Location: Bear Creek Camp, Wilkes Barre, Pa
Dates: Sunday, September 27th to Thursday, October 1st
Sunday, Sept. 27th- Open house to the public- come and go as you please
Monday-Wednesday, Sept 28th-Sept 30th- Open to high schools and colleges (please schedule ahead of time)
Thursday, Oct. 1st- Open to legislators & government workers
Attendees will experience a timber harvest in action, interact with modern machinery, and meet those from all different sectors of the forest industry. Attendees will learn about why the harvest is being conducted, how it will improve forest health, and how the timber harvesting industry is rapidly changing to adopt more sophisticated, efficient, and strategic means of harvesting. There will be stations demonstrating forestry, hand-felling, mechanized harvesting and manufacturing.
Attendees will meet with foresters, harvesters, Conservation District staff, and others who work in the environmental field in Northeastern PA. There will be an exhibitor pavilion with industry and educational information and a food truck on public day!
