Incentive Grant Application Guidelines

Purpose:

The goals of the Northern Tier Hardwood Association (NTHA) support the establishment of secondary wood processing facilities in the Northern Tier counties of Pennsylvania. With the abundance of low grade logs in the region, developing a viable industry to utilize this material is included in the secondary processing development. Providing a market for low-grade material will also enhance forest management of woodlands in the area by providing a market for material removed in thinnings or timber stand improvement operations.

The NTHA Incentive Grant is designed to assist companies or individuals who are taking this goal beyond the "idea stage" to the actual establishment of such facilities in the Northern Tier region.

To receive a grant the applicant must meet the basic eligibility guidelines.

Application Process

Applications are available from the NTHA office. A copy can be obtained by calling (570) 570-836-7753 or writing NTHA, Box 7 Tunkhannock, PA 18629. Completed applications and accompanying material should be sent to the above address. The Grant Committee will review the application and their recommendations will be given to the Board of Directors for their final decision. The application will be confidential to both the Grant Committee and the Board of Directors of the NTHA.

If you are selected to receive the grant, the award will become public knowledge.

Supporting material needed with the grant application includes a detailed project plan (not to exceed two pages), a description of how the project will benefit the Northern Tier Region, and an explanation of how the grant money will be used.
